Sonicwall Configuration Due to the number of end users who have Sonicwall Firewalls on their network, we here at IPitomy have created this short guide demonstrating the configuration settings that we are aware of that can cause problems with SIP. Disable SIP Transformations Disable H.323 Transformations if not using. Enable Consistent NAT If these are not configured this way, you can experience the following problems: 1-way talk paths with Remote Phones and SIP trunks Remote phones that lose registration after a period of time. Remote phones that can make but not receive calls. Additionally, if the customer is using the Sonicwall “Enforced Client Anti-virus” they must exclude the SIP VoIP Appliance and phones in the Sonicwall settings, otherwise these will be blocked because the Sonicwall will want them to install anti-virus, which of course, they can’t do because they’re phones, not computers. ![]() |

Jalapeno Vroukolakas May 30, 2011 at 10:33 AM I had to open the following ports (incoming and outgoing): 1719-1720 UDP 5036 UDP 5060-5061 UDP 2727 UDP 4569 UDP 5036 UDP 10000-65500 UDP You may have to forward all of these incoming to your PBX as well (set up an object and set a routing policy to send them to it). Not sure what model of Sonicwall you have but if you have a VOIP section, then check the SIP settings section and make sure that "Enable SIP transformations" is turned off. I had this turned on and it did not work properly. Spice · Reply Jalapeno Johnny-Mac Jun 14, 2011 at 11:22 AM I have had experiance with a number of different VoIP systems. I have on occasion encountered one that the SonicWALL did not like.. generally because they broke some of the SIP standards. With the VoIP settings turned on the SonicWALL sticks to strict rules.. if the packet tries to exceed them... DROP.. Try turning the VoIP section off on the SonicWALL and see if that helps.
